[ She greets the barge with a smile. Her appearance is 'normal' - normal for a human. No blue skin or yellow eyes in sight. ]

Hi. [ And a little wave. She regrets it immediately. That's kind of embarrassing, isn't it? And not something that she should be doing, because she's here for a purpose. ] I'm Raven.

I heard a few of my friends were here, so I thought I'd come… help. I'm a warden.

And I'm here because I really believe that even if you're trapped, you still should have a chance to figure out who you are. I think that's important.

Well, you thought I was crazy for trying, but I found you.

[ locked to Charles ]

[ She considered her approach to this for a long time. There are a lot of things that they should probably say to each other, and she's supposed to be responsible here. She can't just avoid him, as much as she wants to, while she gets her head together. ]

You should know that I'm here.

If you can actually make plants grow, what does the supervisor do?

Show up and fail to appreciate how meaningless his presence is. More or less.

{ She snorts, at that. ]

[Ivy smirks.]

The greenhouse?

I'll meet you on deck. Just head up the stairs until they run out, if you've not been up there yet.

[ She still is in her natural form when she gets up there. Blue-skinned, though she's a little uncomfortable being so exposed, looking like this. ]

[And Ivy, well, she's Ivy. Green, half-naked, hanging out near the doors to the greenhouse with one of her hybrid songbirds. When she sees Raven she takes a few steps through the garden in her direction, pleasantly surprised to see her still as herself.]

There you are.

[ Already, she envies Ivy's ease with herself. She might be half-naked, and beautiful, but it seems to Raven like it's for her, because she wants to be. Not because it's how other people want her to look.

When she steps inside, she looks to the songbird, because she thinks it'd be rude to stare at Ivy. ]

What kind of bird is that?

[ She's shy. ]

[Right on the money. Pamela was self-conscious, devoid of confidence, always looking to other people to tell her how to be - how to act, how to dress, what to say. Ivy does not take advice. If other people take issue with her, that's their problem, not hers.]

It used to be a rosefinch. Now it's in a classification of its own. [She lets it flutter over to Raven, landing on her shoulder.] Hybridising animals with plant DNA allows me to communicate with them.

That's amazing.

[ Her smile is bright and absolutely real. She glances to Ivy to make sure it's okay before lifting a hand to lightly brush a finger along the bird's feathers. ]

[Ivy smiles back and makes a permissive gesture.

She'll find they aren't quite feathers; instead, they're finely-fringed leaves, shimmering brownish-green. Hybridisation is a - hobby? - she took back up on the Barge after a long time not bothering, and her work has gotten a lot more subtle.]</small. I ought to ask, by the way. Do you prefer Mystique?

Yes. [ She does, actually. She glances back to Ivy, brushing her finger along a leaf's fringe. ] Do Charles and Erik talk about me? [ She assumes that's how Ivy would hear the name. ]

Not to me.

[She makes her way into the greenhouse. Lush and perfect as ever.]

But Charles was turned into you - a version of you, during a flood some time ago. That's when I heard your name.

[Her name. Not her pseudonym.]

[ A nod. ]

He told me that.

[ This bird might be one of the most amazing things she's ever seen. She'd forgotten that sense of awe, back when she first met the other mutants. ]

He keeps trying to warn me to go home.

[The plants turn towards her in a 'mommy mommy hi :D' sort of way as she moves around the planters and troughs.]

It's your decision. Though the Barge certainly isn't somewhere I'd choose to be if I had a choice. [She glances at the younger woman.] Do you have a choice?

Yes.

[ She can turn back and leave. That's one of the reasons she asked for a deal that wouldn't be heart-wrenching to lose. She isn't here for the deal, not really. ]

Then do you mind my asking why you're here?

Are you asking about the deal, or the more complicated reason?

I'm curious to hear whatever you're willing to tell me.

The deal was to expand on my powers. It's not that important to me.

What I wanted to know is where Erik was and what was happening to him.

[She nods. Not something she would have done, but -

Maybe she would have done. For someone in particular.]

Have the two of you spoken yet?

Not yet.

It wouldn't surprise me if he told you to leave, as well. Though it sounds like you're already braced to ignore him.

I'll listen. I just probably won't do what he says.

I don't need as much protecting as he thinks.
