[ She's wearing leggings and a sweater; both are nice, but not her favorites, and not that expensive. ]

[ She brings herself to a halt just out of Jean's way, in case Jean can't maneuver as well as Raven can. ]

Maybe he's been hoarding it for himself. [He goes to sort through the spares, finding something in his size and sitting down to lace them up. It's a good thing he has his mutation; Erik's balance is fine, but walking on skates is not something he's particularly used to. There is definitely some wobbling as he steps out on the ice before he lets his powers take over.]

[He shrugs, makes a face as if to say, good point.] Then I can't wait to see what you have in store next. [He's moving around the rink without...actually moving his legs. Much easier like this. And a little boring.]

[Jean cocks her head slightly, brow furrowing. Then she lifts a hand.

For a moment, Raven's outfit seems to blur and shift. Then she's wearing an outfit not unlike Jean's, though the colours haven't changed.]

[ She says it a little airily, trying to compensate for the fact that she's wondering if she should know what he's talking about. ]

And when he found out, it got ugly.

Skates found, he discards his boots and cape and sits down to lace them on.]

[ It feels so strange on her skin; it seems there's movement, but her skin can't identify any direction or quality to it, making the little fake hairs and pores prickle. She sticks halfway between amazement and regret that she let Jean do that, because now it seems very clear that Jean has a lot of power, the same sort of awareness of Raven's body that Charles would have of Raven's mind, if he tried. She hates that. She is a mouse to other mutants. She's a bug jumping from spiderweb to spiderweb.

But she takes a breath and focuses on the amazement, and - it is nice. ]

I love it.

[ She skates off backwards and in a wide arc, and on impulse throws in a couple of dance gestures, extended and made graceful by the ice-movement. ]

[He manages to stop dead on skates.]

When he found out Inquisitors came. They killed our mother. Marsh and I escaped and managed to hide. We were young but we had the beginnings of noble education that made us useful for thieving crews. We could imitate nobles and get into places nobody else could.

[He stands and wobbles a little, then frowns. Maybe it's been too long, and he shouldn't be doing this. He picks his way over to the ice anyway and immediately has to grab the railing to keep from falling over.]

[He glares at the ice like it's personally offended him.]

[Another shrug, playful this time. He smiles, and gestures one finger, and guess what Raven, her skates are pulling her across the ice all on their own.]

[She can sense the uneasiness, the bitter tang of resentment, and her arm draws back, crosses round her waist.

But Raven smiles anyway, and that means something.]

I'm glad. [The words are softly sincere. It feels nice, to do something faint and fanciful, something harmlessly benevolent.]

It looks good on you.

[permutates]

[ She glides up next to him, and stops. She reaches out for his hand, and squeezes it. Doesn't say anything. ]

Hey!

[ A startled little shout, and she automatically crouches, lowering her center of gravity slightly for better balance. And then her mouth curls, and she pushes off, using the force of his pull like an Allomantic yank, to make her go faster.

She's been practicing it a lot. With Kelsier. Not on the ice, but everywhere else. ]

I can pull you, if you want? It's easier to stay balanced when you're moving.

[ She offers a hand. ]

[He looks at her somewhat skeptically. Normal-looking lady and him in all of his armor - if he falls he'll just take her with him.]
